Evans Head is a small-unspoilt coastal town (727 km north
of Sydney and 250 km south of Brisbane) on the east coast of
Australia. Bound on 3 sides by national park and on the 4th
by the Pacific Ocean we are a haven for surfers in search of
uncrowded waves and holiday makers in need of some serious
relaxation.
Evans Head Surf Shack is a surf school/camp created by surfers for surfers and we are
dedicated to finding you the best waves for your ability. Beginner
surfers will be given in depth advice on water safety, reading
and catching waves and how to get to your feet. We guarantee
you will be standing up in your first week. We also cater for
the advanced surfer offering private and small surf tours to world-class
waves as well as video analysis to all levels.
Evans head surf shack is more than just surfing. Our place
on the Evans River offers an amazing combination of fun, relaxation,
discovery and enlightenment for all ages and cultures. There
is so much to do and explore. We offer many non-surfing extra activities such as kayaking, waterfall tours, deep-sea fishing, daily
fitness and yoga sessions, bush walks and wildlife tours. For
those of you who just want to relax, our in-house therapist
'Liz’ is
on hand for a variety of alternative treatments.
Our unique spot here on the Evans River offers you stunning
sunrises over the ocean and evening sunsets over the river,

A combination of fading S'ly swell and a short lived E'ly windswell around 2ft at most open beaches, ahead of a slow increase in short period NE swell to 2-3ft at NE facing beaches in the a'noon (smaller at first). The South Coast may see marginally bigger waves from this building NE swell right on dusk, but it won't favour Newcastle quite as well as Sydney. Light variable winds tending NE in the a'noon and freshening.
Monday
Peaky NE swell up to 3ft at NE facing beaches between Sydney and the South Coast (smaller at south facing beaches), with larger bombs at exposed beaches in the Far South. Smaller waves up to 1-2ft in Newcastle due to the swell direction. Freshening N/NW winds ahead of an a'noon SW change, but winds may ease back and tend variable.
Tuesday
Combination of short period swells, mainly from the NE with wave heights around 2ft at open beaches (may be a few larger sets at NE facing beaches early, mainly in the south). Newcastle will probably see smaller waves. Light variable winds due to a trough
Wednesday
Combination of short period swells, mainly from the NE with wave heights around 2ft at open beaches (marginally smaller at Newcastle). A small pulse of very inconsistent S'ly swell may light up exposed south facing beaches with 2-3ft sets during the a'noon, including Newcastle. A new pulse of E'ly tradewind swell is also expected late in the day, but more so on Thurs. Light variable winds due to a trough of low pressure.
